Selection by Design (SxD) is committed to treating personal data with respect. We take an honest and transparent approach to informing customers and clients about how and why we use their private information. We process data strictly according to pre-agreed terms of consent or contract. Our procedures for data storage ensure that personal information is maintained safely and securely. The ethical and legislative rights of all persons who share personal details with us is prioritized.
SxD gathers and maintains private data related to our customers. We process data on the basis of consent or contract.
- Data processing by consent
Persons who are interested in SxD services are asked to give consent for us to process their personal data, for the purposes of sending them SxD’s monthly newsletter and keeping them updated on offers, services and available discounts.
The types of data collected for these purposes may include name, email address, telephone, mailing address, and date of giving consent.
We obtain consent by asking persons to complete a “Sign Up” form authorizing contact. This may be found here. The form asks persons to provide their details, and indicate the ways in which they may be contacted.
You may update your information at any time by clicking the link labelled “Update Your Preferences” located at the bottom of every email we send. Alternatively, you can contact by emailing info at selectionxdesign dot com to request a change to your contact authorization.
If you agree to be contacted with news of offers, new services and discounts, our contact will include direct marketing. We use Mailchimp to distribute emails related to marketing. Mailchimp provides SxD with marketing campaign analytics results, such as numbers of campaign opens or unsubscribes.
If you choose to correspond further with SxD through email, we may retain the content of your email messages together with your email address and our responses. We provide the same protections for these electronic communications that we employ in the maintenance of information received by mail and telephone.
You have a right to withdraw your consent to be contacted by us by phone or postal mail at any time. You may do this either verbally, or in writing by contacting SxD through email. The address is info at selectionxdesign dot com. Consent to be contacted by email can be revoked by using the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of every email SxD sends.
You are always welcome to access information on SxD news, services or offers regardless of whether you consent for contact.
- Data processing by contract
When SxD services are purchased by a client, they enter into a contract with us. The client may be an individual, or it may be an organisation. Services include training, test sales, or any form of consultation.
Private data kept for contracted clients may include name, email address, telephone, mailing address, date of contract, nature of service and status of delivery.
When a customer chooses to purchase products or services from SxD, they will need to give personal information and authorization to obtain information from various credit services such as Paypal.
Additional data may be generated for a client based on the nature of the contracted services. SxD acts as a data processor for services including psychometric assessments and evaluation of training competencies. SxD does not maintain data processed for a contracted client for any longer than is necessary to complete contracted services.
Clients have a right to review their personal data maintained by SxD. Requests for this may be made verbally or in writing. SxD will respond to requests within one month. In most circumstances, there is no fee for a review of personal data records.
- Data collected through SxD’s website
Two types of information may be collected through SxD’s website: Personal information individuals knowingly choose to disclose, and information collected on an aggregate basis as you and others browse the web site. Aggregated data are collected through cookies.
What Are Cookies?
Cookies are a feature of web browser software that allows Web servers to recognize the computer used to access a website. Cookies are small pieces of data that are stored by a user’s Web browser on the user’s hard drive. Cookies can remember what information a user accesses on one webpage to simplify subsequent interactions with that website by the same user, or to use the information to streamline the user’s transactions on related webpages. This makes it easier for a user to move from webpage to webpage and to complete commercial transactions over the Internet. Cookies should make your online experience easier and more personalized.
How Does SxD Use Information Collected from Cookies?
We use website browser software tools such as cookies and web server logs to gather information about our website users browsing activities, in order to continually improve our website and better serve our customers. This information assists SxD in designing and arranging our webpages in the most user-friendly manner, and to improve our website to better meet the needs of our customers and prospective customers.

We are not responsible for the practices employed by websites linked to or from SxD’s website, nor the information or content contained therein. Often links to other websites are provided solely as pointers to information on topics that may be useful to the users of our website.
Managing Personal Data
SxD regularly monitors the status of consented and contracted data. If an individual’s account has been inactive for two years, they are re-contacted to request to verify continued interest in our services and to confirm contact details. Failing this, their personal data will be de-activated.
We do not maintain data for any longer than necessary. When data are no longer required for a contracted, agreed purpose, they are eliminated.

Legally Compelled Disclosure of Information

We assure our customers and clients that their personal data is managed safely and securely. SxD takes measures to keep data safe from unauthorised access, as well as accidental loss or destruction. This applies to both electronic and hard-copy data.
